How Green is Your City?

Sustainability is a big buzz word these days, and pops everywhere in the media--sometimes as a marketing tool, other times as a genuine attempt to identify wise choices and help consumers make informed decisions.

SustainLane
is a San Francisco-based organization that reviews sustainable products in efforts to sort the wheat from the chaff, and has gone one step further--they've published a list of the most sustainable large US cities . Check it out and see where you stand, and as a sneak peek, here are the top five:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. San Francisco, CA
  3. Seattle, WA
  4. Chicago, IL
  5. Oakland, CA
As a consolation prize for all you DC'ers, SustainLane also lists this upcoming event in your area. Attend and help DC break into the top 10 (and catch an organic buzz while you're at it):

Green Festival DC
Enjoy more than renowned authors, leaders and educators; how-to workshops; cutting-edge films; activities for kids; organic beer and wine; and a unique marketplace of more than 300 eco-friendly businesses.
